Magic of Venetian Carnival. Portrait of a Lady in a Venetian Mask.

In the labyrinth of mirrors and reflections of the Carnival, among the quiet laughter and whispers hidden behind masks, a lady moves with light steps. Her face is concealed by a gilded mask, her smile—a mystery. Venice around her breathes in mists and shimmering waters, whispering promises to those who dare to listen.

But time, like the wind over the lagoon, dissolves everything: secrets, illusions, and hopes. Through the golden dust scattered across the canvas of the past, false gold seems real—just like memories in a fading dream…

It is a beauty that deceives, like any illusion, yet that is precisely why it enchants and seduces.

Perhaps this contrast is the true Magic of Venetian Carnival: between the real and the false, between what vanishes and what remains. In a world where everything is a mask and a stage, the only truth is the moment itself—vivid and fleeting, like a smile and a glance from a stranger behind a mask, flickering through the golden dust of time.

This portrait I painted in a mixed technique: watercolors on canvas overlaid with gold foil (imitation gold) and covered with fixing liquid. I will send this portrait without a frame, packed in a cardboard envelope.
