Marina Markizova. Watercolor artist and graphic designer
Hello! I am Marina Markizova, artist and graphic designer. My main love is watercolor, its fluidity and unpredictability expresses breath and finiteness of every minute of our world. I especially like to paint flowers with watercolor – the desire to paint them is the desire to prolong the short moment of flowering, its delicate fragility…
My second love is Italy, since my student days, when I was studying the history of art, I used to dream of visiting this wonderful country, years passed… and in 2012 I realized my dream. Now I live in Italy, in Verona, and at any free moment I go to open-air to splash out on paper my love for Italy. My Italian watercolor sketches are my instant impressions of beautiful Italy, which I am happy to share with you.
I was born, grew up and studied in Siberia, in Russia. I graduated from the Krasnoyarsk Institute of Arts, art department. I work as a freelance graphic designer in packaging design, mainly packaging design for Christmas gifts.
Exhibitions
In November 2013, I participated in the collective exhibition “Ogni strada, un viaggio” in in the gallery CastelVecchio of Verona.
I participated annually in spring and autumn in the traditional collective exhibitions of the group of Veronese artists “Amici Dell’arte A.Nardi”.
In 2016 and 2017, I participated in the international watercolor festival in Fabriano. These were unforgettable events – a real holiday of watercolors, creativity and communication of artists from all over the world. I am proud that my watercolors were chosen to attend in these international exhibitions.
In 2016, I took the 4-day seminar “Flowers and fruit” with the great Spanish watercolorist Pedro Cano.
In 2020, I made it to the finals of the international watercolor contest organized by the Esde Gallery in Cagliari, Sardinia with my watercolors “The Carnival”, which was painted based on my first impressions of the Venice Carnival.
In 2021, I participated in an online Art contest “I’m Hero” and my painting “Carnival in Venice” reached the final and was selected to participate in a national exhibition “Arte Eroica. Miti di ritrovata libertà” in Villa Bassi Rathgeb museum in Abano Terme.
Future plans include new exhibitions and competitions …
